Joyce Jones
Joyce Elizabeth Jones is an associate with the firm, concentrating her practice on representing persons injured by serious medical negligence, cancer misdiagnosis, and birth trauma resulting in cerebral palsy. Ms. Jones joined the firm first as a law clerk while attending law school and has since returned to the firm as an associate attorney.
Ms. Jones was granted early admission into law school, where she served as the Business Editor of Law Review; the Supervising Teaching Assistant for Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing; was awarded the Highest Grade in Contracts; and was admitted early entry to the Maryland Bar where she served as a Rule 16 prosecutor for Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Ms. Jones is also a member of the Heuisler Honor Society for the distinction of graduating in the top 10% of her law school class.
Immediately upon graduation, Ms. Jones clerked for the Honorable James P. Salmon, on the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. During that clerkship, she also began teaching at Anne Arundel Community College in the Criminal Justice and Paralegal Studies programs. Upon the completion of her appellate clerkship, Ms. Jones accepted a position in private practice, working in the areas of insurance defense, workers' compensation, personal injury, mediation, labor and employment, collective bargaining issues, and criminal defense. In addition to her work duties, Ms. Jones serves as a volunteer with MidShore Pro Bono, a legal resource and referral system on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and board member of the Don't Panic Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides legal, medical, and financial support to critically injured fire fighters and police officers in greater Maryland.
Ms. Jones is admitted to practice in the State Courts of Maryland and is eligible to be barred in the District of Columbia. She is a member of the Maryland Association for Justice, Maryland State Bar Association, and Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association, and has certificates in Private Investigation, General Mediation, Family Law Mediation, Marital Property Mediation, and Child Access Mediation.
